Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon GMT: A Breakthrough by Audemars Piguet with Green Ceramic

Audemars Piguet has unveiled the Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon GMT, a high-end watch with a bold design and advanced materials. This timepiece features a sandblasted titanium case paired with a bezel, crown, and pushers made from green ceramic, all hand-finished with polished and satin-brushed bevels. While green ceramic was first introduced by Audemars Piguet in the Royal Oak Offshore collection in 2018, it wasn’t until 2022 that this material appeared in the Royal Oak Concept line. Let’s explore this masterpiece with DWatch Factory.

Audemars Piguet Introduces the Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon GMT

In line with the signature design of the Royal Oak Concept, the movement is prominently displayed at the center on both the front and back of the watch. The standout feature of this model is the combination of the hand-wound Calibre 2954 movement and green ceramic material. The black PVD-treated bridges of the movement create a striking contrast with the very thin green coating applied through the Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) method. This technique not only produces a unique light effect but also ensures consistent and long-lasting color.

The watch is adorned with rose gold details, such as luminous hour markers and the AP logo positioned at 12 o’clock. The green rubber strap, accompanied by a sandblasted titanium folding clasp, completes the watch’s powerful yet elegant appearance.

Calibre 2954: The Pinnacle of Precision

The Calibre 2954 is a hand-wound movement featuring a flying tourbillon and GMT function, along with a crown position indicator at 6 o’clock. The GMT function displays the time of a second time zone at 3 o’clock, adjustable via a push-button at 4 o’clock. The second time zone indicator comprises two superimposed discs: a 12-hour sapphire disc and a day/night disc made from carbon composite, divided into two colors to represent day and night.

The Calibre 2954 is also equipped with Audemars Piguet’s patented parallel double barrel system. This system allows the Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon GMT to run continuously for up to 10 days without winding, while ensuring smooth and synchronized energy transmission. Thanks to this design, the watch not only increases precision but also enhances power reserve and durability over time.
