Early this morning, Omega launched a series of new releases, including an updated version of the vintage-inspired Seamaster line. The new Omega Seamaster 300 pays homage to the brand’s first diving watches from the 1950s and 1960s.

Classic and Modern Design

The new Omega Seamaster 300 captures the charm of the original models, featuring variations with blue and black dials. These have been refined to closely resemble the originals in both spirit and aesthetics. The watch embodies a vintage soul with a modern heart, featuring METAS-certified chronometer movements and the current generation of the Co-Axial escapement.

Original Ideas

This is not the first time Omega has created a new Seamaster. This version combines the look of the 1950s Seamaster with 21st-century refinements. The dial features the inscription “Master Co-Axial Chronometer” at the bottom and a modern ceramic bezel.

The new Omega Seamaster 300 omits some of the modern flourishes of its predecessor to stay truer to the original model from 1957. Its dial is a true “sandwich” style, with the bottom layer coated in blue-emitting Super-LumiNova, and the top layer featuring cut-outs for the indices and numerals.

Distinctive Features

The most significant change is the improved dial design. Gone is the dial text referencing the movement, which has been moved to the back. In its place is the classic Seamaster 300 text. The dial’s actual size is larger, with an opening of 30.4 mm compared to the previous 29.5 mm. The watch is also thinner than the older model.

The Arabic numerals exude a vintage charm, with open 6 and 9 (recalling early 1960s Seamasters). The lume for the numerals, markers, and hour and second hands glows blue, while the minute hand and bezel ring glow green. The “lollipop” style second hand also returns, adding a unique touch to this timepiece.

Scoring Points with Details

The bezel on the new Omega Seamaster 300 is made from oxalic anodized aluminum with blue or black variations matching the dial. The bezel is fully illuminated and significantly more scratch-resistant than standard aluminum inserts. The watch maintains a 41mm case size, with a lug width of 21mm and a bracelet tapering to 16mm at the clasp.

The new Omega Seamaster 300 features a domed sapphire crystal and a sapphire exhibition case back. Inside beats the METAS-certified Omega Master Co-Axial caliber 8912 with a 60-hour power reserve. The Omega Seamaster 300 is available with a blue or black dial/bezel combination, on either a bracelet or a strap.
